Listmaker Crash

Listmaker Crash

Postby firelance80 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:57 am

Listmaker has crashed on my phone 3 times in a month, dumping all resident data. I am able to reload from Toodledo after deleting and then re-installing the app. I notice that this seems to occur when Listmaker tries to auto-sync with Toodledo on launch if I have no wifi connection (I do not have internet access on my iPhone, only wifi). My iPhone is jailbroken and do not know if this may contribute to the problem.

Has anyone else reported this problem? Or, do you feel it may be something else causing the crash?

There have been reports, but I haven't heard any reports of it happening that frequently. I think it has to do with a bug in the sync code that incorrectly registers lists as having been deleted when the iPhone loses network connectivity in the middle of a sync. I am rolling out some more robust syncing code in Action Lists in the next week or two which should fix this problem. (I need to do a short beta test before releasing it on the world.) The updated sync code will find its way into Listmaker soon after that. Would you be interested in beta testing the new version of Listmaker when the time comes?

In the meantime, the best workaround I can offer you is to turn off synchronization except when you are connected to wifi and there is something that you know you need to sync. Sorry.

Thanks for the super-fast response. I have been doing just that, turning off the sync when not backing-up. I mistakenly left it on and got bit on the third go-round.

Yes, I would be happy to beta test if needed. Listmaker is the perfect app for keeping me organized and I enjoy using it. I also enjoy working with someone that tries so hard to get it right.

A quick suggestion, while this is probably not the forum for it: allowing LM to launch to whatever was the last list you were in would be helpful and would circumvent the need to step through multiple folders when referring to the same list repeatedly throughout the day.

It's on my list to investigate for the next release. Thanks for the suggestion.
